Why does God, or nature, create gay people?

Alice Dreger at Pacific Standard asks Why has homosexuality survived evolution?

Alice Dreger writes:

1.  "Androphilic males - that is, males who are sexually oriented toward other males - show up in cultures around the world."

God is not a fundamentalist.

2. In many cultures certain types of Androphile males are reputed to be particularly kind towards members of their family.

3. "In Samoa, for example, there is now substantial evidence for above-average kin-directed altruism among the culture’s androphilic males, a group known as the fa'afafine."

Harvard University sociobiologist E.O. Wilson has suggested that:

A man's 'Gay genes' are passed on via the 'straight' family members that he helps - family members who share many of his genes.

4. In Samoa, a young boy who shows an interest in female-type activities like cooking will spend a lot of time attending to the family needs.

"It is common to hear people say that families that include fa'afafine are particularly fortunate..."

"The men who have sex with fa'afafine typically prefer ordinary female sexual partners, but when they have sex with fa'afafine, it isn't seen by the culture as homosexual."

5. A team of researchers, writing in the journal Human Nature, suggest that what they have found in Samoa may be the way things have been throughout much of human History.

6.  The Aché, hunter-gatherer people from Paraguay, have a type of androphilic male who "generally stay with the women's and children's group during the day.... They also sometimes care for sick and injured individuals..."

7. "Perhaps what these (gay) boys need is fewer doctors, and more grateful families."

We should not forget that God (or nature) creates lots of different kinds of gay people.

Lennon wasn't gay. He was too into his groupies, at least to begin with.

He did take that holiday with Brian Epstein and alleged let Brian suck him off and the whole episode terminated with the words "I'm sorry Eppy, I can't."

He took that photo with Bowie because it was funny. And cocaine's a hell of a drug.

My feeling is, sexuality-wise, he was a lot like Kurt Cobain - "I wasn't gay, but I used to wish I was just to piss off all the homophobes in school".

I can dig it.

Lennon also wished he was black at various times. But he obviously wasn't.

For the record, not all my readers are the sort of 'Christians' and 'Moslems' who go around hating just about everyone. I recently had a comment from a 'Christian' which was mainly four letter swear words. My local church just lost its (non-Gay) minister - driven out by nasty members of the congregation. God loves Gay people; Satan promotes hate.

My brother is a black drag queen. He says he knew he was gay when he was 8 years old. He went to the same Catholic prep as my other brother but at a very young age was more interested in disco dancing and playing with my toy hoover than playing Commandos with the other bro.

Yes, his childhood was innocent. Gay is not always about corruption. As Peter T says: Some people are gay. Get over it!

Quotes by Thomas Paine

"I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of. My own mind is my own church." - The Age of Reason, Part 1, 1793

"People in general do not know what wickedness there is in this pretended word of God. Brought up in habits of superstition, they take it for granted that the Bible is true, and that it is good; they permit themselves not to doubt of it, and they carry the ideas they form of the benevolence of the Almighty to the book which they have been taught to believe was written by his authority. Good heavens! it is quite another thing; it is a book of lies, wickedness, and blasphemy; for what can be greater blasphemy than to ascribe the wickedness of man to the orders of the Almighty?" - The Age of Reason, Part 2, 1795

"Of all the systems of religion that ever were invented, there is none more derogatory to the Almighty, more unedifying to man, more repugnant to reason, and more contradictory in itself, than this thing called Christianity. Too absurd for belief, too impossible to convince, and too inconsistent for practice, it renders the heart torpid, or produces only atheists and fanatics." - The Age of Reason, Part 3, 1795

"The christian religion is a parody on the worship of the Sun, in which they put a man whom they call Christ, in the place of the Sun, and pay him the same adoration which was originally paid to the Sun." - An Essay on the Origin of Free-Masonry, 1803-05

"As to the book called the Bible, it is blasphemy to call it the Word of God. It is a book of lies and contradictions, and a history of bad times and bad men. There are but a few good characters in the whole book." - Letter to William Duane, April 23, 1806

More Thomas Paine quotes:

"Each of those churches show certain books, which they call revelation, or the word of God. The Jews say, that their word of God was given by God to Moses, face to face; the Christians say, that their word of God came by divine inspiration: and the Turks say, that their word of God (the Koran) was brought by an angel from Heaven. Each of those churches accuse the other of unbelief; and for my own part, I disbelieve them all." - The Age of Reason, Part 1, 1793

"All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian, or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit." - The Age of Reason, Part 1, 1793

"Whenever we read the obscene stories the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness with which more than half the bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we call it the word of a demon rather than the word of god. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind; and, for my part, I sincerely detest it as I detest everything that is cruel." - The Age of Reason, Part 1, 1793

Many thanks for the comment about the kid who knew he was gay when he was 8 years old.

Headmasters and teachers have told us of many such children.

In most parts of the world it would not matter.

Only in Fascist-Christian countries would it cause a problem.

During our travels around the world we have found that the most intolerant and most disturbed people are often the church going Americans and Brits.

In Asia, we used to visit people in a large mental hospital which had a few child patients.

The worst nurse was the church going Christian woman.

She had no sympathy for kids who were handicapped, gay or different in any way.

She was your typical Nazi.

Kindest regards,

So what does 'aangirfan' a crusader against pedos, think the age of consent should be?

Anonymous said...

Just because a perversion shows up in animals and mankind that doesn't mean it's not a perversion. It's a genetic defect; soon cannibalism and pedophilia wlll be shoved down our throats as "acceptable" behaior the way things are going. Yet both are perversions. I suppose since mental retardation is a genetic defect, we should applaud that too. I really thought you aangirfan understood the zog agenda; I guess you don't after all or perhaps, you're just controlled opposition. Whatever the case, defects and perversions do not cause mankind to rise to the highest levels and never have all throughout history.

Homophobia is a perversion.

What should be the age of consent?

For Americans and Brits, the age of consent should be 90.

That would solve a few problems.

I'm glad you posted this Aangirfan, because I think I can see where you're coming from now.

God hates self righteous bigotry, of course he does, but it isn't being self righteous to scream out a warning to people who are falling down a bottomless pit.

I can't go to church any more because none of the churches near me are kind to Pindown child abuse survivors, they seem to see us as something to be covered up and shunned.

I've been persecuted by the ferocious pro gay groups, and I think it would make a saint lose it to suffer what I have had to endure.

For the record, its not me who has posted 4 letter swear words on your blog, just in case anyone thinks its me, though there have been many times I have felt so frustrated about the antics of Tom O Carroll and Peter Tatchell ect that I have certainly felt like screaming out in the middle of the road!

Those SEXUALLY hung up Christians

God's love – for the Jews!

Ignorance, misogyny and intolerance

Central to Judaism was an obsession with a fierce tribal war god, Yahweh. With his blessing, misogynistic scribes encoded a raft of sex crimes which sanctified racial ambition. The sacred mission was to populate and subdue the earth. Judaism would bequeath its unfortunate mix of ignorance and intolerance to a wayward faction of heretics known to the world as Christians.

Christianity – the triumph of perversity

"For, says the Scripture, "A woman is inferior to her husband in all things."

– Josephus, Against Apion 2.25.

From Judaism, the enthusiasts of Christ derived the notion that the body was a source of shame and that women were an inferior breed. But the early Christians were also influenced by Hellenic ideas that the passions were inherently suspect and that sex was harmful to the soul. Mortification of the flesh and abstinence became the path to spiritual purity.
