Fethullah Gulen, who runs a large movement.

From the point of view of the CIA, Turkey's real 'boss' is Fethullah Gulen, who lives in the USA.

The Gulen schools in Russia were closed down because they were reportedly fronts for the CIA.

Reportedly, Gulen has fallen out with Erdogan.

Power Struggle Between Erdogan and Gulenists

President Abdullah Gul, who is a strong supporter of Gulen.

Gulen reportedly hit at Erdogan in a recent sermon in which he criticised the evils of arrogance.

This arrogance may consist of not always following CIA-Gulen instructions and not giving enough contracts to US companies.

Gulen opposes an invasion of Syria; Erdogan is in favour of greater intervention in Syria.

You are next.

On 16 May 2013, Turkey's prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, traveled to the USA to meet Obama.

Erdogan did not meet Gulen.

Gulen's gang is a bit like the Freemasons, or the UK's Common Purpose

Gulen's 'Hizmet' service now sees itself as more secular than Islamic.

Gulen school in Kenya.

In the United States, Gulen's Hizmet runs more than a hundred charter schools and several TV stations.

In Africa, Gulen's Hizmet is increasingly active.

Gulen Movement. Gulen Schools Worldwide

Hizmet acts like a 'state within a state'.

Erdogan has recently been cracking down on Hizmet.

There have been "vows to shut down thousands of prep schools, many of them run by the Hizmet. Assorted bureaucrats and police officials said to have Hizmet connections are on the block."

Hizmet-linked media have criticised Erdogan's attempt to do deals with the Kurds, and Erdogan's wish to intervene in Syria.

Kerry prefers Gul?

Turkey's President is Abdullah Gul, and he is a supporter of Gulen.

"Gulen is making his epic move to bring about an "in-house" political coup ... to bring Gul to the fore.

"Gulen has Washington's support for this "regime change" in Turkey...

"Gul is a protege of the Saudi royal family, whereas Erdogan shares the Qatari Emir's passion for the Muslim Brotherhood."

Et tu, Gul? Then fall, Erdogan Asia Times Online

"Speaking on a visit to Tunisia, Erdogan said "terror groups" were manipulating what had started as an environmental campaign, and added that seven foreigners were among those arrested."

Hullo Girls,

Thinking about it, I reckon you've hit the mark here. Did you see Craig Murray's latest piece on Turkey? He got a lot of comments particularly from people in Turkey saying how right he was, very nuanced etc. etc.

But what he'd written was your standard Time magazine sort of stuff. And those comments saying how he'd nailed it obviously came from those readers who subscribe to the Time magazine view of the world.

Nowhere in amongst it was any mention of Gul, or Ergenekon, or Donme. In such a Time magazine world the idea that a nation's head might lead a perfectly cyrpto life and view what should be his country as thing to be smashed in the name of a greater cause is a non-thing, an impossibility, a loony fantasy.

But it's not fantasy. It's concrete. The fantasy belongs to those blinkered by Time. Sure enough as the world comes crashing down those thus blinkered flap around never quite making sense of what they see.

I'm so glad I'm not one of them. But not half so glad that you aren't, ha ha.

My regards to all the school chums.

best etc. etc.
