What did Cameron say to Obama about a possible takeover of BP by Exxon?

Before 20 July 2010, the BP oil spill was big.

On 11 July 2010, Exxon was given the nod to mount a £100bn BP takeover

On 20 July 2010, David Cameron met Barack Obama and Cameron argued in favour of the financial survival of BP.

After 20 July, the BP oil spill became small.

On 30th July 2010, The Daily Mail asks Where did all the oil go? U.S. press and scientists admit that BP spill is vanishing much faster than expected

The Daily Mail reports that "The water around the Gulf is almost entirely clear."

Time Magazine, The Washington Post, the New York Times and Vanity Fair suggest that the oil spill was exaggerated.

Marine scientist Ivor van Heerden told Time magazine: 'There's just no data to suggest this is an environmental disaster... We're not seeing catastrophic impacts. There's a lot of hype, but no evidence to justify it.'

Dr Simon Boxall, an expert in marine pollution and dispersion at the National Oceanography Centre, University of Southampton, told the Telegraph: "When Tony Hayward said it was a drop in the ocean, it might have been the wrong thing to say at the time, but it was the truth."
