Cameroon, oil and spies

Cameroon has oil and lots of foreign spies.

The following is from a Book review: Cameroon. Dossier Noir sur Le Cameroun by Pierre Ela, Edition Pyramide Papyrus Presse, 2002, is reviewed by Elie B. Smith

"President Biya decided to hand over his personal protection to the Israeli MOSSAD...

"According to the author, the University uprisings in the early 90’s and the targeted killings of some prestigious Cameroonians as from 1988 was France’s response to Biya’s change of loyalty...

"He also explains in greater details why France wanted not only to destabilise Cameroon, but also wanted to eliminate Paul Biya physically, all these with the active or passive complicities of some members of government and the very secret services created by Biya for his personal protection...

"He also gives the reasons why after resorting to Israeli/American help or protection, Biya decided to seek France’s protection and support again."

Cameroon was created in 1961 by the joining of two former colonies, one British and one French.

"Large numbers of Cameroonians live in poverty as subsistence farmers. Power lies firmly in the hands of the president, Paul Biya, and his Cameroon People's Democratic Movement party, and corruption is widespread. The Anglophone community has grown increasingly alienated from the government, and Anglophone politicians have called for greater decentralisation and even the secession of the former British-governed territories." - Cameroon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"The Government of Cameroon is known for the lack of transparency in its financial transactions, with the whereabouts of the revenues from the country's own offshore oil production largely unknown.

"A 1995 World Bank report found the government's will to address poverty very weak and complained of financial mismanagement." ( Questions Concerning The World Bank and Chad/Cameroon Oil and ... )
