The UK police and drugs and kidnappings.

From The Mail on Sunday, 26 February 2006:

Claire is a police officer.

"Claire says she was not the only one at her station with a drugs problem. She knew of at least five other officers there who took Class-A drugs."

The Mail on Sunday, 26 February 2006, tells the story of an accountant, Andrew Ramsay, kidnapped in Glasgow by men in police uniforms. When he was kidnapped, Ramsay was with his partner, Beverley Sinclair, a policeman's widow.

Ramsay ran a business with a young Eastern European woman which was based in one of Scotland's most notorious brothels.

Ramsay had been due to give evidence at a major money-laundering trial.

The two men who kidnapped Ramsay presented what appeared to be police identity cards. The kidnappers used 'police jargon'. One of the kidnappers was 6 foot tall.

Detective Superintendent Willie Prendergast described Ramsay as a well respected, upstanding member of the community.
