Kick out Darling

If you use public transport in the UK you probably know that it is rotten.

Recently we got on a Stagecoach bus. The driver drove dangerously fast and on one occasion had to slam on the breaks. The driver was smoking while driving. There was very little leg room for passengers.

Recently we got on a Virgin train. People were standing in the aisles for most of the long journey. The buffet car had no hot water. The train was hours late. The staff were rude and unhelpful.

Many parts of the UK have no trains and only occasional buses.

The Blair government has spent less on public transport than the previous Conservative government.

Many of the companies who have obtained bus and train franchises are performing badly.

Things are getting worse:

Biggest cuts since Beeching will slash rural train services

By Ben Webster, Transport Correspondent

DOZENS of branch lines and stations are to lose up to half their trains as the Government looks to cut more than £1 billion in rail subsidies.

Alistair Darling is Blair's Transport secretary. He is MP for Edinburgh Central.

Darling should be kicked out of the government and kicked out of parliament.
