The US government is wary of Islamist regimes?

On 24 August 2005, Wayne Madsen reports that the Bush administration 'has established links with the pro-"Islamist" junta in Mauritania, led by Col. Ely Ould Mohamed Vall'.

Vall is 'a recipient of past U.S. military training'.

'The Pentagon's parallel neocon intelligence network, in cooperation with Algerian intelligence and private military contractors linked to Halliburton, ... are active in the Sahel from Mauritania and Morocco to Chad and Libya.'
