Reprieve—As drone victims testified
The USA's drones are part of the Strategy of Tension.
The idea is to kill innocent civilians and get people scared.
One of the CIA's Gladio operatives said, "You had to attack civilians, the people, women, children, innocent people, unknown people far removed from any political game.
"The reason was quite simple.
"They were supposed to force these people, the Italian public, to turn to the state to ask for greater security."

To Murder Peace with Drones. Assassinations Executed from Remote Computer Keyboards

"Definition of drone can vary with the person. I include cruise missiles, and military craft which were named drones back in WW II, but lack the sophistication of today's drones. I include drones in space, air, water, land. I have not been paying much attention to the hobby dimension. I am sure toy drones are available in nations not on my list.
It seems to me that no one else can be doing what I am doing, because all other published reports with a count on how many nations have drones, are way below my running totals.

This is the basis for the claim "US Drones have killed 3500 innocent civilians.
This is patently false .
This count includes people killed by German V1s in 1944 and John F.Kennedy's elder brother Joe Jr. - both were killed by drones.
The 3500 number is derived from reporting by the Pakistani ISI (who - it cannot be argued - hate America) and the Far-right Hoover institute, as well as the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, an MI5 front.
I reproduce (straight from the horse's mouth) the methodology Drone Nation used to count drone deaths - not only does it include V1 victims, his method is to count every report of a death (without verification) in the Pakistani press as one civilian death; if the same death is recorded in 10 local papers, he reports 10 deaths.
As for the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, they cropped up again as the conduit last October for the McAlpine leak/sting operation on Newsnight which effectively halted any further mainstream media probing into the steadily expanding Savile story and stopped it dead in its tracks - students of the October Surprise will recognise such a sting as a standard method for shutting down stories and discrediting consciencious journalists who try to do their job.
As for the issue of the drones themselves - it's the ultimate Straw Man. Drones don't kill people, people kill people, and the same people in the States who proclaim themselves profoundly anti-drone are deeply pro-gun.
It's rank hypocrisy.
As a weapon of war, Obama uses them a fair ammount, Bush rarely did - Cheney preferred sending in his own personal death squads instead to take out heads of state and militant camps alike - the assassination of Benazhir Bhutto killed or maimed almost 500 people in two separate attempts in 2007.
The argument of Pakistani sovereignty is often made and this represents a basic misunderstanding of the nature of the Peshwar border region - to a lesser of greater extent, the Pakistani state has ALWAYS been unable and/or unwilling to Impose the rule of law and control or arrest militancy, the area is just beyond its reach and logistical capacity to do so - and it would come down to placing faith and trust in the Pakistani military and the ISI to do the job, and this is a non-starter.
Bhutto was asked about such US cross-border actions a number of times before her death, and though hedging slightly, she was a lot more honest than Musharraf or anyone else - no-one else can control the tribal regions, and the goal of the militants is to destabilise and overthrow the existing power structure in Afghanistan, and reignite a full-scale tribal conflict as was the case in the 1990s, which is not in the interests of either Afghans or the Pakistani State (the ISI may well feel differently) - they may not say so in public, but the Pakistani government is grateful for the drone operations and need them to continue, as they serve a vital security need that they have which they are unable to deliver on themselves.
