SCHOOLS



According to The Economist: "People who don't get on ... have the option of avoiding each other."

This is not true for most children when they are at school.



The typical school is like a weird sort of zoo - where all the animals are placed together in the one large cage.

Similarly, it is not a good idea put someone like Prince Charles into a school like Gordonstoun.

Ideally, children have a choice of schools and education styles.

My town used to have several small schools.

Now, sadly, there is only one giant school.

It is surely silly to have kids memorising huge quantities of dates and facts and figures, when such information is now available online.

Neil Carberry, director of employment and skills at the Confederation of British Industry, says that Gove's emphasis on rote learning might not be the best way to prepare pupils for employment.

According to Stephen Heppell, an education adviser to governments around the world:

"Schools should prepare pupils to interpret data and understand uncertainties.

"We need kids that can make things and do things, and that won't happen by giving them a heap of facts."

Why does one child succeed in life, and another one 'fail'?

In How Children Succeed, Paul Tough writes that what matters most is character skills.

These are skills such as self confidence, optimism, perseverance, curiosity, conscientiousness, and self-control.

In other words, emotional intelligence, as taught by good parents, good mentors and good private schools, is what matters.



Both rich children and poor children can lack emotional intelligence.

The problem is - how does a child from a problem family find a good mentor?

The best mentors are often grandparents.

Second Graders and the War of 1812 in New York City


In New York City, the Common Core curriculum directs seven-year-olds to learn about the War on 1812. The teacher is provided with an Alignment Chart. The chart "demonstrates alignment between the Common Core State Standards and corresponding Core Knowledge Language Arts." It is copyrighted by the Core Knowledge Foundation, founded by E. D. Hirsch.

This comes after a study of Early Asian Civilizations and The Ancient Greek Civilization.

Could any topic be more developmentally inappropriate? What is the point here?

I attednded a seminar at glastonbury festival last week on what our kids are being taought in the new zio-schools, after this i would advice everyone to home school
yes teach them yourself.
My neighbours kids left school unable to spell read or write, but they could spout non stop about holocaust studies and supporting israel in its worldwide terror

MOST TEACHERS LACK A DEEPLY PROCESSED KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECTS THEY TEACH. IT'S DIFFICULT TO IMPART A SENSE OF EXCITEMENT ABOUT SOMETHING YOU DON'T TRULY UNDERSTAND.

I can't understand why the masses believe the psychologists' demand that kids starting at ages 5-6 have a strong desire to learn of this world after exiting the toddler phase when they must be put in institutionalized, montonously bueareacratic "factories" of learning and soul-gutting weekday routine where after the whole durn 12 years most of the kids don't turn out anywhere near the ideal perfection of Utopian outcome expectancies of highly intellectual masses. Yor forget most of what you learned except that must-be retain for the career of your choice.

It was only a little over 100 years ago where less than a third of American kids daily attended schoolhouses. Didn't John Dewey have something to do with all of this schemeing to break down real intellectual thought alongside the scheming Freemasons? And another tangential thought of an article I read last year where the rate of true innovation has actually fallen since 1900. More than half of the "technological breakthoughs" of the 20th century were really just added improvement to the main inventions.
