"They were frightened to hint at the real reason: for he was a figure of real power in the town."
A 74-year-old woman from Grantham told the Independent on Sunday that she had been sexually abused on frequent occasions by Alderman Roberts, when she worked in his shop, aged just 15.
"I got quite frightened. I didn't like it and I'd push him away. He'd say nothing and go, but then he would come back again. He used to chase other girls round the counter."

"'[Conservative MP] Teresa Gorman told me this evening (in a taxi coming back from a drinks party at the BBC) that she inherited Morrison's (woman) agent, who claimed to have been offered money to keep quiet about his activities. It scares me as all the press know, and as we get closer to the election someone is going to make trouble, very close to her indeed.'"
"We need some serious answers to serious questions about why Tebbit, Margaret Thatcher and her other key aides and ministers like Willie Whitelaw, Leon Brittan and Lord McAlpine did not expose this well-known paedophile to police and public instead of giving him jobs in the party and government and allowing him to be right in there among Thatcher's inner circle for 15 years."

Derek is an acquaintance of Camilla Parker Bowles.
"With a feckless father and a mother who had little time for him, Derek seemed certain to be a failure - until two quintessentially English sisters took in the lost little boy and transformed his life..."
Derek Laud's parents, Lyn and Samuel Laud, came to England from Jamaica in the late 1950s.
Derek's father left home when Derek was still very young.
Anne and Cicely Meehan became Derek's minders.

Derek spent more time with Anne and Cicely in Clapham.
Derek says that he realised he was 'homosexual' from about the age of eight.
He would always rather play with the girls.
Derek left his mother's house and went to live with the Meehan sisters.
