1. In the USA, the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System (NCANDS) provides information on child-abusers.

Nearly 80 percent (79.9%) of perpetrators were parents of the victim.

Approximately 58 percent (57.9%) of perpetrators were women. 

42 percent (42.1%) of perpetrators were men.

2. A government study in Iceland suggests that young children who see violent porn suffer the same sort of trauma as those who are been actually abused.

According to the study, young children exposed to violent porn becoming increasingly isolated and they play out what they have seen on the internet on younger family members or other children.

In 2010, the Icelandic government concluded that violent porn on the web was increasing the intensity of sex attacks.

Iceland may block all internet porn.

Interior Minister Ögmundur Jónasson is working on ways to stop children seeing porn through computers, games consoles and phones.

Iceland may block porn IP addresses and make it illegal to use credit cards to access x-rated sites.

Two years ago, the Icelandic Parliament banned all strip clubs.

The UK's Daily Mail has been campaigning for an automatic block on online pornography that means customers must ‘opt in’ for access.

3. In October 2011, in Sweden, 23 women were convicted of child pornography offenses.

According to the charges, the women, aged between 38 and 70, received scores of sexually explicit video clips and photographs of children.

The material included girls and boys of all ages, from toddlers to teenagers.

4. A range of studies have shown that at least 28% of children put into state care wound up being abused, with numbers much higher in certain states. And in Arizona alone, 500 of 4,000 children were sexually abused while in the care of the state. (Source and more studies here)

5. Between late 2008 and early 2009, Vanessa George, Colin Blanchard and Angela Allen met on Facebook,[1]

Police believe that the three were having a contest to see who could produce the most depraved picture.[1] 

Vanessa George started taking indecent pictures of 2 to 5 year old children at the nursery where she worked, and also a picture of her then 14 year old daughter.[2] 

Police believe that none of these pictures were sent beyond these three people.

A fourth member of the ring, Tracy Lyons, of Portsmouth pleaded guilty in March 2010 to assault of a child by penetration, sexual assault of a child under 13, causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity and three offences of distributing indecent photographs of a child.

A fifth member of the ring, Tracy Dawber – a mother of nine from Portsmouth – was found guilty of one count of sexually abusing a baby in October 2010.[3]
