PUTIN AND RUSSIA

Pioneer.

Putin is more popular than Obama.

Pre-elections polls gave Putin's United Russia 50% or more of the vote.

In the December 2011 election, the real result was 49.3%.

Anatoly Karlin has written (http://www.sublimeoblivion.com/2009/07/04/top-50-russophobe-myths/):

During Putin’s Presidency, poverty rates more than halved and wages nearly tripled, fueling an on-going consumption boom shared across all regions and social groups.

The birth rate has increased, the death rate has fallen and mortality from murder, suicide and alcohol poisoning has plummeted.

The Russian 'liberals' get low single-digit approval ratings from the Russian population.

Unlike some superpowers, the Russia Federation has yet to invade another country unprovoked. Most of its neighbors view Russia favorably and a plurality of Ukrainians would be happy to join it.

When they had de facto independence, the Chechens created a criminalized, Wahhabi state, practiced ethnic cleansing against local Russians and launched armed raids against border regions.

Russia leads the world in literacy, level of tertiary attainment and the quality of its mathematicians and programmers. It possesses a world-class literary, musical and artistic heritage.

Russia has seen healthy manufacturing expansion.

Have a fine 2012.

off topic - I notice that the media are quite busy reporting North Korea's photoshopping skills, yet , of course, mention nothing of western media agencies skills in that department.

The media seems to do this often , charge an unpopular regime with those offences the 'west' vigourously denies while screaming ' conspiracy theorist'.

just a thought

cheers

In Russia peeople can vote for/elect a president. In the US-Dictatorship people can only vote "electors", who in the end are n o t even obliged to really vote for the candidate they said they cast their vote for.

And this elector-system in the US-Dictatureship is not a mistake: The slave-keeping Founding Fathers DIDN'T WANT a real election by the people!

Very weird video of Russian children dressed in German liederhosen shorts with pink Playboy bunny ears. I watched video on YouTube and used translator to translate Russian comments into English. Comments referred to pedophiles and mocked women as 'who needs them'? A Russia pedophilia spoof video in the Putin thread....say it isn't so!

Putin is an Islamophobe and Russians are are racist despite losing millions of people during WWII by Nazi Germany.

I am confused how Aangirfan has portrayed the Chechens as the bad guys. Hasn't he/she heard of Grozny being levelled by Russian bombers?
