Who attacks tourists?

Mossad spies attempt to destablize Egypt s

On 20 December we learn that Egypt has arrested members of an Israeli spy ring within its borders.

Egypt claims the spies kidnapped foreign nationals.

Reportedly, the aim is to destabilize security in the Sinai.

Emad Gad, an expert at Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies, says:

"Despite Israel’s peace treaty with Egypt, Egypt remains Israel’s primary threat in the region."

Israel sees Egypt as its main obstacle to regional dominance.

A recent US diplomatic cable states that "Israel enjoys peace with Egypt…but not with its people."

Egypt has uncovered dozens of Israeli attempts to infiltrate economic, science, technology, and military sectors in Egypt.

Twelfth Bough (Twelfth Bough: scanty details), on 19 December 2010, relates:

An Israeli officer was "able to kidnap a number of tourists who were allegedly taken to Israel. After several days, kidnapped tourists were then reportedly returned to the place from which they had been abducted.

"The operation's apparent objective was to destabilize security in the Sinai Peninsula...

"September 30, 2008: Tourists kidnapped in Egypt - 11 tourists go free after raid in the Sahara. (LA Times)

"Eleven European tourists kidnapped by masked bandits in southern Egypt were freed Monday after a 10-day odyssey that ended when Egyptian and Sudanese commandos swept across a remote desert landscape...

"In another story: Kidnapped tourists in Egypt are freed by special forces.

"A group of European tourists who were kidnapped by armed bandits in the remote deserts of southern Egypt have been freed after a raid that left half of their captors dead...

"Who are these kidnapped tourists, and why haven't we heard about them? Do they not remember being kidnapped and taken to Israel for a few days during holiday? Or is there some other reason they don't call reporters and authorities and complain bitterly about being kidnapped and taken to Israel?

"Unlike, for instance, the body of a US tourist Christine Logan found near Jerusalem.."

The lady in Israel was a Christian missionary from Virginia. Also the attacks on Christians in Iraq and a bomb at Xmas in Jos Nigeria make this all seem like a ramp-up of a Xtian-Moslem war.

Who would that benefit I wonder.

cheers

the dictator Hosni Mubarak takes US money to remain friendly with Israel. the Egyptian people have lived under his dictatorship for almost 30 years. he would like to install his son Gamal Mubarak to take his place.

this explains the cheeky US cable:
"A recent US diplomatic cable states that "Israel enjoys peace with Egypt…but not with its people.""

it's always easy to enjoy peace with people on the payroll.

except it can't really be a peace can it - a peace always questioned, always doubted.
