US SABOTAGE OF BP?

In April 2010 there was an explosion on Deepwater Horizon, the drilling rig being used by BP off the coast of the USA. The share price of BP has dropped dramatically.

1. Does the US government hope that a US company can grab BP?

In December 2008 we read in The Telegraph that "The most startling takeover target of the year will be BP, which will attract interest from Exxon Mobil...

"BP will be historically cheap by most measures..."
- After a year of shocks, prepare for more in 2009

2. In 1982, President Reagan approved a CIA plan to sabotage the Russian economy by supplying technology that contained hidden malfunctions.

This technology included software that triggered a huge explosion in a Siberian natural gas pipeline, according to a memoir by a Reagan White House official. (WashPost: CIA slipped bugs to Soviets - Washington Post- msnbc.com)

3. Halliburton was in charge of cementing for Deepwater Horizon. (Halliburton May Be Culprit In Oil Rig Explosion )

Giant oil-services provider Halliburton may be a primary suspect in the investigation into the oil rig explosion that has devastated the Gulf Coast, the Wall Street Journal reports.

similar i suggest to all those silly foreign car maker recalls

the idea that an american built ford or chrsyler is better than a toyota or honda is laughable

and every car with electric sensors suffers as a result, the plague of over engineering

it's just protectionism, as is blowing up BP's rig

One should recall the following:

1) Halliburton's purchase of Boots and Coots was of a well intervention company, not just an oil clean-up company;

2) A Halliburton subsidiary, KBR, received a Bush-era contract to build containment camps in the US to handle any unexpected influx of immigrants during a national emergency or for other necessary purposes.

What all this means is that Halliburton will be put in charge of fixing or otherwise monitoring future Macondo well activity, as well as cleaning up the oil mess and relocating evacuees to its now empty concentration camps. Now, that's crony capitalism with an invigorating sense of what the true possibilities are! Feeding in the public trough will never be quite the same again.

Oh, lest I forget, this is an election year, with the polls opening just about the same time as the end of the hurricane season (in case you were wondering, oil, corexit 9500 and hurricanes spell trouble). So guess who's going to get blamed for all of this? That's right, the current plantation manager and his party.
