Britain's Bravest Soldier: Joe Glenton

Joe Glenton

Lance-Corporal Joe Glenton is facing court-martial for refusing to be redeployed to Afghanistan.

He has written to the UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, saying (British Lance-Corporal Joe Glenton refuses to go to Afghanistan):

"The war in Afghanistan is not reducing the terrorist risk.

"Far from improving Afghan lives it is bringing death and devastation to their country.

"Britain has no business there.

"I do not believe that our cause in Afghanistan is just or right.

"I implore you, sir, to bring our soldiers home...

"It is my primary concern that the courage and tenacity of my fellow soldiers has become a tool of American foreign policy."

Brave? BRAVE????

Left his comrades, swore an oath and did not abide by it.
If he felt so strongly, why not do a more "honorable" thing, get out!! He could have bought his way out of the military. PTSD is a fact of life, there is a poor system for dealing with it but surely not this! He has p****d on his people, beware he does not turn on you!
What he needs to do is serve his sentence, get out of the army and live a life! Get as much help as he is entitled to but stop being hijacked by other elements who will quite happily use him in a "martyr" political scenario but have no idea what military life is about.

PS Dont think we should be in Afghanistan either - but this is not the way to show displeasure. Demonstrate, vote any politician who supports military action out of office, anything but this!
