Police fired on de Menezes without shouting any warning.

If the police and military had really thought de Menezes was a terrorist, they would have arrested him at his home (1) or as he walked to the bus stop (2) or after he got off the bus (3) and headed to the tube station.

At the inquest into the July 2005 murder of Jean Charles de Menezes at a London tube station, witnesses have stated that armed police fired on de Menezes without shouting any warning.

Menezes police 'gave no warning'

The police have consistently 'lied' about the murder of de Menezes, and there is a suspicion that the police and army knew de Menezes was an innocent man and that his killing was part of a 'strategy of terror' of the sort associated with Operation Gladio.

In the CIA-NATO's Operation Gladio, 'acts of terrorism were carried out in Italy' in order to keep certain parties in power.

Firearms officers had said de Menezes had moved towards them after they shouted warnings.

But Mrs de Menezes said outside the inquest: "None of the passengers heard the police give any warning or described Jean's actions as aggressive."



Rachel Wilson and her boyfriend Ralph Livock had been sitting opposite Mr de Menezes.

She told the inquest nothing had been said to alert her that the men were plain-clothes officers and that she initially thought they were just messing around.

Nicholas Hilliard QC, counsel to the inquest, asked her: "Specifically, did you ever hear anybody shout 'armed police'?"

Ms Wilson answered: "If I had heard that, I would have thought they were police, so no."

Mr Livock had told the inquest that their train was held up for longer than usual when four casually-dressed men with guns got on board.

Mr Hilliard asked: "Had you heard anything said about police?"

Mr Livock replied: "No, certainly not.

"I remember that specifically because one of the conversations that Rachel and I had afterwards was that we had no idea whether these were police, whether they were terrorists, whether they were somebody else.

"The thing that made me realise it wasn't a group of lads playing around or something else happening was when the first shot was fired."

De menezes

Mr Livock described Mr de Menezes' reactions when an officer pointed a pistol at his head.

"He looked as if he was expecting somebody to say something but he didn't look frightened," said Mr Livock.

3. SYRIA - Brzezinski wants to lessen Russian influence in Syria, including the closing of naval facilities that the Russian navy has maintained in that country.

Brzezinski wants Iran and Syria as allies against Russia.

4. AFRICA - According to Tarpley, Brzezinski wants destabilization and chaos in Africa, in order to drive out the Chinese and in order to prevent them getting Africa's oil and other raw materials.

Brzezinski believes that if the Chinese cannot get their oil from Africa, they will be forced to attempt the military seizure of Russia’s oil wells in the Far East.

A witness to this was a former Iranian employee of the Anglo- Iranian Oil Company (later BP), who knew the Khomeini family.

In 1979, when Col. Archie Chisholm, a BP political officer and former editor at The Financial Times, was asked about this, he neither confirmed nor denied the story.

William Richard Williamson's biography was written in the early 1950s, by Stanton Hope, a British Journalist and writer who had met Williamson in his home near Basra in the late 1940s. The book title is: Arabian Adventurer: the Story of Haji Williamson

His sons attended religious schools.

Reportedly, one son went to the Iranian holy city of Qom and took the name Khomeini.

8. In the early 1960s, Khomeini began to plot against the Shah. In 1964 Khomeini was sentenced to death. By becoming an Ayatollah, his life was saved.

9. Reportedly, in 1979, Khomeini was flown from France to Tehran, with the help of MI6.


The Shah of Iran was toppled by the CIA and MI6?

The mainstream media would like us to believe that the Shah was overthrown by People Power and that the CIA and MI6 were taken by surprise.

However, there is evidence that the CIA and MI6 toppled the Shah because he had become too much of a nationalist, like Nasser, and was not following instructions on oil or even opium.

The CIA did not want left-wing democrats taking over from the Shah as they might not be easy to control. So, reportedly, the CIA allowed the Ayatollahs to take over.

Radio Free Iran claimed that while at Qom, the Ayatollah Khomeini received a "monthly stipend from the British, and he is in constant contact with his masters, the British."

On 19 January 1980, the International Herald Tribune reported that the Shah had said, two years before he was overthrown, that he had heard from two different sources connected with oil companies that the regime in Iran would change.

‘We believe that there was a plan to ensure less oil was offered to the world markets in order to bring about a price,’ said the Shah. ‘One country was to be chosen for the sacrifice... It seems that the country chosen to drop its oil production was mine.’

The Shah's nationalist policies were making him more popular in Iran and making his country more independent and more powerful. This worried the CIA and MI6.

1. The Shah bought land from the upper classes and, along with the crown's own land, sold it back cheaply to tenant farmers. Over one a half million people to became land owners, thus ending the old feudal system.

2.The Shah allowed women the right to vote. He brought an end to the wearing of the veil.

3. He developed plans for a $90 billion nuclear power program.

4. The Shah signed petroleum agreements with ENI, the Italian oil company.

5. He began to close down the opium industry. This had been created during the days of British influence.

'Former intelligence officer' Dr John Coleman considers opium to be of prime importance in the toppling of the Shah (Conspirators’ Hierarchy: The Story of the Committee of 300 - 6). Dr Coleman is sometimes described as being a conspiracy theorist.

Coleman believes that the US government toppled the Shah of Iran.

Why was the Shah deposed...?

In a word, because of DRUGS. The Shah had clamped down and virtually put an end to the immensely lucrative opium trade being conducted out of Iran by the British. At the time that the Shah took over in Iran, there were already one million opium/heroin addicts.

This the British would not tolerate, so they sent the United States to do their dirty work for them in terms of the “special relationship” between the two countries.

When Khomeini took over the U.S. Embassy in Teheran, arms sales by the United States, which had begun with the Shah, were not discontinued...

After 1984, Khomeini’s liberal attitude toward opium had increased the number of addicts to 2 million, according to United Nations and World Health Organization statistics.

Both President Carter and his successor, Ronald Reagan, willingly and with full knowledge of what was at stake, went on supplying arms to Iran even while American hostages languished in captivity...

The arms trade with Iran was sealed at a meeting between Cyrus Vance... and Dr. Hashemi, which resulted in the U.S. Air Force beginning an immediate airlift of arms to Iran, carried on even at the height of the hostage crisis the arms came from U.S. Army stockpiles in Germany and some were even flown directly from the United States with refueling stops at the Azores.

With the advent of Khomeini... opium production skyrocketed. By 1984 Iran’s opium production exceeded 650 metric tons of opium per annum.... Iran presently rivals the Golden Triangle in the volume of opium produced.

Prior to World War II, British Intelligence cultivated ties with the Brotherhood through agent Freya Stark, the British adventurer and writer... The Muslim Brotherhood spread throughout the Muslim world and has evolved into something like a Muslim equivalent of the West's Masonic brotherhood...

The most noteworthy success of the Islamic movement during this time was of course the overthrow of the Shah of Iran and the installation of the Ayatollah Khomeini as the Islamic dictator. British Intelligence had used their contacts with Iran's mullahs and ayatollahs to help overthrow Mossadegh and install the Shah back in 1953, and these contacts were maintained and used again to overthrow the Shah when his regime fell out of favor.

The Establishment history of Iran's Islamic Revolution is that Khomeini's revolt was spontaneous and populist, and that it overthrew a repressive dictatorship that was hated by the people but supported wholeheartedly by the United States. It is true that the Shah's government was not a democracy and that his secret service, trained by the CIA, was one of the most effective intelligence organizations in the world.

But what is not reported is that prior to the British-sponsored massive public relations campaign on behalf of the Ayatollah the government of the Shah was loved by the vast majority of the population.

After taking over from Mossadegh the Shah began to push forward a number of nationalist policies that increased his popularity at home but, in some cases, worried the Anglo-American Establishment.

First, he signed petroleum agreements with ENI, the Italian oil company.

Then in 1963 he pushed forward on a series of popular reforms that became known as the White Revolution.

The Shah evolved into a nationalist whose path paralleled that of Nasser far too much for the Establishment's liking:

- He bought land from the upper classes and, along with the crown's own land, sold it back cheaply to tenant farmers, allowing over one a half million people to become land owners and ending the old feudal system.

- He allowed women the right to vote, and brought an end to the wearing of the veil, which were "Westernizing" moves unwelcomed by the religious sector.

- He moved to shut down the lucrative opium industry that had been created during the days of British Empire control that had been running for a hundred years....

The attack on the Shah's government came through the Muslim Brotherhood and through the mullahs and ayatollahs of Iran, supported and manipulated by British Intelligence...

Dr. John Coleman, a former British Intelligence agent... states in his report on Iran's Islamic Revolution (11) that the Muslim Brotherhood was created by "the great names of British Middle East intelligence" ...and that their mission was to "keep the Middle East backward so that its natural resource, oil, could continue to be looted..."

Dr. Coleman writes that in 1980 the broadcasts of Radio Free Iran divided the enemies of the Shah into four categories: 1. Iranian politicians bought by the Israeli Shin Bet, 2. The CIA's network of agents, 3. The feudal landowners, 4. The Freemasons and the Muslim Brotherhood (viewed as the same enemy).

In his report Dr. Coleman writes that in Iran, "At one time there was even a joke about the mullahs being stamped 'made in Britain.'" When the Shah introduced his plan for modernization in 1963 the Ayatollah Khomeini emerged as the leader of the religious opposition. Up until his exile from Iran in 1964, Khomeini was based at the religious city of Qom. Dr. Coleman relates that Radio Free Iran claimed that while at Qom Khomeini received a "monthly stipend from the British, and he is in constant contact with his masters, the British."

Oil wealth staves off recession

Because of oil wealth, countries like Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait appear to be coping with the economic crisis.

The United Arab Emirates has put $32 billion into its banking system and guaranteed bank deposits.

Saudi Arabia has put extra money into the Saudi Credit Bank, a bank which gives interest-free loans to less well-off Saudis.

Kuwait has taken steps to prop up its second largest bank.

While oil-rich Scotland suffers, because its oil wealth gets stolen by England, the gulf is unlikely to have a recession.

“We are not calling for a recession in the gulf,” said Marios Maratheftis, regional head of research for Standard Chartered Bank in Dubai. “We are looking at a slowdown.”

Egypt, Jordan and Syria normally receive lots of money from those of their citizens living in the gulf.

The Sunday Times in Scotland,( Huge tidal power plan for Scotland - Times Online), 28 September 2008, tells us:

1. Enough TIDAL POWER could be generated off Scotland's north coast to produce 25 gigawatts of energy.

2. That is FOUR TIMES what Scotland uses at present.

3. Surplus power could be sold to England and Europe.

4. The Pentland Firth, between Scotland and Orkney, is a perfect site for what could be the world's biggest tidal energy 'farm'.

5. Scotland could produce 25% of Europe’s tidal power and 10% of its wave power.


Scotland has oil (at least half the oil is still to come) and it has wind and wave power.

And, more than 1000 new hydro-electric power stations may be built in Scotland in the next few years years according to Scottish Government advisers. ( Scotland may have a thousand more hydro sites)

Above Loch Ness, the £150m Glendoe hydro-electric scheme is nearing completion.

Scottish and Southern Energy's Glendoe project will be capable of generating 100mw of power, enough to power Glasgow.

Glendoe will be the second largest hydro scheme out of the 80 already in Scotland.

Most were built in the late 1940s and early 1950s.

The Scottish Government aims to generate 50% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2020.

Regarding private property, the minister said the government has helped the poor and middle classes to obtain, for the first time ever, their own homes and small and medium-sized businesses, and he pointed out that the government has paid indemnity for all property it has nationalized from transnational companies, in accordance with the national constitution.

Reportedly, Abu Nidal, was a spy for the USA.

Documents which are now in the hands of The Independent (Abu Nidal, notorious Palestinian mercenary, 'was a US spy'), written by Saddam Hussein's security services, state that Nidal had been "colluding" with the Americans and, with the help of the Egyptians and Kuwaitis, was trying to manufacture evidence linking Saddam and al-Qa'ida.

In 1974, Abu Nidal set up Fatah, thus weakening Arafat's PLO. This worked in the interests of Israel.

This article may provide clues as to who a certain group within the CIA and the Pentagon will try to put into power in the USA.

Lawson reminds us that in 2004, "Four days before that election, Al Jazeera broadcast a video tape in which America's most wanted finally took responsibility for the World Trade Centre attacks – and also ridiculed President Bush's response on the day."

According to Professor Joseph Nye of Harvard: "In the first poll after that tape was released, President George W Bush opened up a six-point lead over Senator John Kerry."

If we assume that the Al Jazeera tape was made by the CIA, then we can assume that the CIA, or a faction within the CIA, was backing Bush.

Lawson writes about what now to expect:

"We should indeed expect a bin Laden tape criticising John McCain, cunningly designed to cause Americans to reject Barack Obama instead.

"In that case, they must also accept the corollary: that if no such tape is sent to Al Jazeera, it would suggest that bin Laden really prefers that Obama became President.

"This, however, will be a difficult proposition for them to take on board; it would mean in turn that bin Laden and those who advise him are more worried by the prospect of a continuation of the policies pursued by George W Bush and are desperately anxious for a President who might take the military heat off them.

"The most recent authenticated leak of correspondence between the al-Qa'ida leadership suggests that their lives are not a bundle of joy, after seven years on the run.

"A December 2005 letter from Atiyah Abd al-Rahman to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi conceded that bin Laden and his colleagues are 'weak' and 'have many of their own problems'.

"On this analysis, bin Laden is a marginalised figure of exaggerated importance (as well as self-importance).

"After all, who could have believed that in the seven years after the outrages of 9/11, al-Qa'ida would have been unable to launch a single follow-up attack on the American mainland?

"That might be attributed in part to the security measures undertaken by the Bush administration, but it also reveals a complete inability on al-Qa'ida's part to recruit successfully in the heartland of their chosen enemy."

So, the Jewish Dominic Lawson appears to think that Bush has been successful against al Qaeda.

And he's hoping McCain will win?

CIA chief Michael Hayden, on 30 September 2008, said that the U.S. intelligence community is keeping a close eye on Afghanistan's border with Pakistan.

Various reports implicate Đukanović in doing business with different Mafia bosses like Neapolitan Camorra's Ciro Mazzarella who was arrested in 1993 in Lugano.[6]

Since then, other mafia figures like Francesco Prudentino, Gerardo Cuomo, Filippo Messina operated out of Montenegro closely tied to Đukanović's government.[7]

In 1996, Italy's Anti-mafia Investigative Agency taped a telephone conversation between Cuomo and Santo Vantaggiato, a fugitive from Italian law hiding in Montenegro. The two men were discussing the election in Montenegro, and Cuomo boasted that he was close to senior Montenegrin politicians. [8]

In July 2003, the prosecutor's office in Naples named Đukanović as a linchpin in the illicit trade which used Montenegro as a transit point for smuggling millions of cigarettes across the Adriatic sea into Italy and into the hands of the Italian mafia for distribution across the EU.[7]

John Paul I became Pope but died after a month in office. There was a strong belief that he had been murdered.

In October 1978, the CIA's friend Karol Wojtyla became Pope John Paul II.

In Argentina, in the 1970s, while Paul VI was Pope, Father Patrick Rice was subjected to water torture by agents of the Argentinian government.

According to father Rice, "Any Christian who defends the poor can expect to be persecuted and mistreated by the security police."

In 1968 a meeting of South American bishops had called upon the church to defend the rights of the oppressed and the poor.

Some priests opposed the U.S.-backed fascist regimes.

In 1980, in El Salvador, Bishop Oscar Romero was assassinated by a fascist group headed by major Roberto D'Aubuisson, who has been linked to the CIA. John Paul II, from Poland, was pope at the time.

Maura Clarke, Ita Ford and Dorothy Kazel were American Nuns murdered by fascists in El Salvador in 1980. John Paul II, from Poland, was pope at the time.

The CIA campaigned against the priests who supported the poor and campaigned in favour of the priests who supported the fascists.

Penny Lernoux, in her book 'Cry of the People', relates how the CIA used right-wing Catholic organizations in Latin America to attack reformers.

The CIA trained and financed the fascists.

In 1975, the Bolivian Interior Ministry, closely linked to the CIA, set up the "Banzer Plan, which was adopted by ten Latin American governments. This plan aimed to destabilize and defeat priests who supported the poor.

The Catholic Church's Opus Dei attacked those who supported the poor.

John Roche, a professor at Oxford University in England, broke his oath of secrecy after leaving the Opus Dei. Roche described Opus Dei as "totalitarian" and "fascist".

In the latter days of the fascist Franco regime, ten out of 19 cabinet officers belonged to or were closely allied with Opus Dei.

American Knights of Malta such as William Simon (Citicorp) and Francis X. Stankard (Chase Manhattan Bank) have spoken at Opus Dei meetings.

Now the UK is having to borrow a lot of money.

According to the Financial Times, 21 October 2008, the UK government borrowed an extra £37.6bn in the first half of the year.

This half-year borrowing figure is the highest since the second world war.

And Gordon Brown has outraged shareholders of Lloyds Bank and Bank of Scotland (HBOS) by arranging a most unsuitable merger.

Mr David McLachlan, in a letter to the Financial Times, 21 October 2008, writes:

"Lloyds TSB has never needed to be rescued – it has a sound business model, is conservatively funded, and is highly profitable and well able to withstand the current recession... If... the takeover of HBOS proceeds... then a very substantial amount of the value in Lloyds TSB will have been transferred needlessly, and arguably illegally, from existing shareholders to the government." - Outraged Lloyds shareholder not alone

There is to be a by-election in Glenrothes in Scotland and it might seal the fate of Gordon Brown, the UK prime minister.

“I’ve always voted Labour but I've decided I’ve had enough of them,” says Mr George Smiley Fulton, a former government employee who has worked in Saigon, East Berlin and Washington.

“The Scottish National Party seem the only alternative.

"Given what’s happened with Labour wrecking the economy, I’m sure I'll vote SNP.

"If Ireland and Norway and even Singapore can rescue their banks, then so can Scotland.”

Labour’s own private polling shows that the Nationalists will finish 5,000 votes ahead.

Gordon Brown, the prime minister in London, does not have the money to help the Bank of Scotland.

He will have to borrow the money.

The UK budget deficit may soon climb to at least 92 billion pounds ($159 billion).

An independent Scotland, in a worst case scenario, would have a deficit that was very tiny in comparison.

When oil prices rise again, Scotland will have a huge surplus.

Scotland, with its oil wealth, could, if independent, borrow the money needed for the banks.

At the recent SNP conference, companies such as Coca-Cola, trade unions and media groups all jockeyed for position.

SNP membership and donations are on the rise.

An independent Scotland could produce a fund from North Sea oil revenues to shelter the country in times of trouble. Norway has a fund of £200 billion.

According to SNP leader Alex Salmond:

“All countries, large and small, are affected by this.”

“The prime minister keeps saying it originated in the United States. Seventeen financial institutions have failed in the United States, the largest economy in the world. For unionists to say this is something just affecting small countries is daft.

“And to besmirch the reputation of Norway and Ireland to try and get a point against the SNP . . . it used to be that unionists only ran down Scotland, but now they are busy running down other countries as well.”

Iceland, said Salmond, had “very particular problems” and a population only half the size of Glasgow, while Norway was among the best-placed countries in Europe to get through these turbulent times, and Ireland was moving into recession at a point where it was 40% more prosperous per head than the UK, and would probably emerge with a similar margin.

Finland, Denmark and Norway were all forecast to avoid recession, while Ireland had taken early action to stabilise its banking sector.

“By my reckoning that gives us three countries that will do better than the UK, one which has very similar problems to the UK and Ireland, and Iceland which is a particular example of a country very badly affected.”

Marc Coleman, an Irish-based former economist at the European Central Bank, said of Ireland: “After 15 years of record-busting growth, some froth is being blown off the Guinness. But the glass remains very much almost full,” he said.

“Ireland’s economy grew by almost 90% in the past 10 years, four times faster than the EU and three times faster than countries in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.”

Sidney Cooke, Leslie Bailey, Robert Oliver, and Lennie Smith, were imprisoned in 1989 for the manslaughter of Jason Swift.

Cooke and his gang had sexually tortured and prostituted a number of boys.

The gang is believed to have killed at least nine children.[2]

Cooke was sentenced to 19 years in prison.

In 1998, Cooke was let out of prison eight years early.

She became a close friend of Tony Blair, who lived in Islington, a few doors away from Hodge.

Almost 1,000 children went missing from UK residential and foster care in 2007.

Cools was shot dead. Before he could speak out.

After Dutroux's arrest in 1996, arrests were made in the Cool's case.

One of those arrested was Alain Van der Biest, a Socialist Minister, alleged to have close links with the mafia gangs of Liege.

Belgian TV came up with an anonymous witness who claimed that leading Socialist politician, Guy Mathot, had ordered Cools to be killed.

In 1994 Mathot was charged with corruption over kickbacks paid to Belgium's Socialist parties.

Willy Claes was NATO Secretary General and a Belgian. He was caught up in the Mathot kickbacks thing and was forced to resign.

Melchior Wathelet was top judge who released Dutroux from prison in 1991.

Wathelet was Belgium's judge at the European Court of Justice.

Wathelet was Belgium's Justice Minister at the time when Cools was shot dead.

Cools' son called for Wathelet and other top judges to be removed from office.

In 1996 there were suggestions that the gangs involved in the Cools' killing had been involved with Dutroux.

WHO WILL TRY TO STEAL THE OIL?

The Cuban government has announced that there may be more than 20bn barrels of recoverable oil in offshore fields in Cuba's share of the Gulf of Mexico

Now, you can imagine how the CIA might try to get its hands on that oil.

The CIA might tell the people of Cuba, through various CIA controlled media outlets:

Scotland has lots of oil.

"Five months ago when the price of oil soared to $120 (£70) a barrel, Grant Thornton, the leading city accountancy firm, calculated that Scotland would have a budget surplus of £4.4 billion, making it one of the wealthiest small countries in the world.

"Using the Grant Thornton model, a new analysis by The Sunday Times, based on the price of oil falling to about $75 a barrel last week, found Scotland would be in the red."

We don't think many people will be conned by the Sunday Times when it fails to mention that an independent Scotland would be MUCH better off than poor old England.

In 1975, economist Gavin McCrone presented a report on Scotland's oil to the Cabinet office. (How black gold was hijacked.)

McCrone made clear that an independent Scotland's budget surpluses, as a result of the oil boom, would be so large as to be "embarrassing".

Scotland's currency "would become the hardest in Europe, with the exception perhaps of the Norwegian Kronor." Scotland would be in a position to lend heavily to England.

Why must we all copy Cuba?

A study of 93 nations has found that only one nation - Cuba - is developing sustainably.

Cuba is the only nation which:

Was everyone in the CIA involved in such activities as the planning of 9 11 and the spreading of stories about Saddam having weapons of mass destruction?

Or is it the case that within the security services of various countries there are secret cabals.

Stella Rimington was the head of Britain's MI5.

In The Guardian, 18 October 2008 ('9/11 response was huge overreaction') we read that she "mentions Guantánamo Bay, the practice of extraordinary rendition, and the invasion of Iraq - three issues which the majority in Britain's security and intelligence establishment opposed privately at the time."

If this is not disinformation, and if a majority opposed the invasion of Iraq, then this would suggest that a hidden cabal pushed for the Iraq War.

Trident nuclear missile

At present there are nuclear missiles right next to Glasgow, on the Clyde, in Scotland.

Her Majesty's Naval Base Clyde is the home of the United Kingdom's Trident-armed nuclear submarine force.

It is possible that the UK Defence Secretary, John Hutton, could move the nuclear missile base from Scotland to his own constituency of Barrow and Furness, in the North West of England.

The Washington Post, the CIA, Iraq and Scotland

Deborah Davis's book Katharine The Great (1979) is about Katherine Graham, the publisher of the Washington Post.

Katherine The Great revealed that the Washington Post had close ties with people in the CIA. (CIA Disinformation in Action, Operation Mockingbird.)

In Katherine The Great, a CIA operative is quoted as saying: "You could get a journalist cheaper than a good call girl, for a couple hundred dollars a month."

The Washington Post contained articles which misled people about Iraq.

The CIA now seems to be part of the attack on Scotland, a country which has important oil wealth and military bases.

The Washington Post, like the unpleasant BBC and much of the English media, seems to suggest that Scotland needs England to bail out its banks.

To be fair, the Washington Post does quote Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond.

Salmond "noted that Ireland was entering its recession '40 percent more prosperous than the U.K.' and that Norway is a 'sea of stability' compared to Britain in the current crisis.

"Which is presumably why Gordon Brown did not want to mention Norway in his thesis that only small countries get into trouble. The country where this started is the United States of America - the largest economy in the world."

It should be noted that IRELAND does not want to join up with 'bankrupt' England.

NORWAY does not want to join up with Sweden.

And presumably CANADA does not want to be merged with the debt-laden USA.

The USA and UK are not well placed for economic recovery because of large debts and bad government.

The US budget deficit has swollen to a record $455 billion

In 1997, Gordon Brown, who is now the UK's prime minister, took the Bank of England out of regulating the level of debt in the economy.

Similar mistakes have been made in the USA.

So, which countries are in a strong position?

The small countries in the European Union are in a strong position.

The UK figure is 115.

2. If we look at productivity, taking the EU average as 100, we find:

Ireland has invested heavily in education and hi-tech manufacturing.

But the UK figure is only 1.8%

If Scotland was independent, how would it fare?

The Scotsman, 15 October 2008, (The Scotsman) asks some questions and gives us some answers:

Would an independent Scotland have been able to bail out the two Scottish banks RBS and HBOS?

1. Would an independent Scotland have the £37 billion required by the banks.

The Scotsman points out that the UK government does not have the money!

The UK government will have to borrow the £37 billion from the world money markets in the form of a gilt auction.

An independent Scotland could presumably have done the same.

2. Would RBS and HBOS have got into such trouble had Scotland been independent?

The Scottish National Party has argued that Scotland would have better financial regulation.

Politics professor John Curtice has suggested that an independent Scotland might have prevented the Bank of Scotland from being merged with the Halifax.

3. Would an independent Scotland have been able to cope with the banking crisis in general?

Scottish Nation Party leader Alex Salmond says that an independent Scotland would have acted as decisively as the Irish government, which moved to guarantee all deposits in its banks.

The London government dithered.

4. When we look at the small European countries like Ireland and Norway, is there an "arc of prosperity" or an "arc of insolvency"?

The "arc of prosperity" was supposed to include Norway, Iceland and Ireland.

Norway is expecting its economy to grow for the next couple of years.

Irish economic expert Marc Coleman has pointed out that Ireland is well ahead of the UK in economic terms.

5. Had an independent Scotland been in the eurozone, would it have made a difference?

Being in the eurozone has cushioned the Irish economy from the worst effects of the credit crunch. Iceland is not in the Eurozone.

Emmett Till

1. Emmett Till was from Chicago.

In 1955, fourteen year old Emmett went to visit a small town in Mississippi.

He whistled at a woman outside a store.

A group of men beat Emmett to a pulp, shot him dead and dumped him in a river.

The husband of the woman who had been whistled at and his half brother were arrested.

The evidence against them was 'pretty overwhelming'.

Emmett Till

The jury found the two men not guilty.

In 1956, the two men admitted in an interview with Look magazine that they had killed Emmett.

Emmett was black and the jury was white.

2. In 1955, Clyde Kennard, a former army sergeant, tried to enrol at Mississippi Southern College in Mississippi.

He was sent away.

University officials planted illicit alcohol and stolen chicken feed in his car and had him charged with theft.

He died in prison.

3. Lamar Smith was a 63-year-old black farmer and World War II veteran and organizer of black voter registration.

He was shot to death in broad daylight at close range on the lawn of the Lincoln County courthouse in Brookhaven, Mississippi.

Some reports say there were many white witnesses including the local sheriff who saw a white man covered with blood leaving the scene.

No witnesses would come forward and three men who had been arrested went free.

4. According to the newspaper 'Scotland on Sunday' (The Truth Seeker - Lockerbie evidence was faked), 28 August 2005, a Scottish Police chief has revealed that the Lockerbie evidence was faked.

The 1989 Lockerbie Bomb (PanAm 103) incident killed 270 people.

The former police chief has given lawyers a signed statement claiming that evidence in the Lockerbie bombing trial was fabricated.

The officer has testified that the CIA planted the fragment of circuit board crucial in convicting Al Megrahi.

The police chief's identity has not yet been revealed.

According to the Scotsman, "the claims pose a potentially devastating threat to the reputation of the entire Scottish legal system."

The officer is supporting claims by a former CIA agent that his bosses "wrote the script" to incriminate Libya.

An insider told Scotland on Sunday that the retired officer approached them after Megrahi's appeal - before a bench of five Scottish judges - was dismissed in 2002.

The insider said: "He said he believed he had crucial information. A meeting was set up and he gave a statement that supported the long-standing rumours that the key piece of evidence, a fragment of circuit board from a timing device that implicated Libya, had been planted by US agents.

"Asked why he had not come forward before, he admitted he'd been wary of breaking ranks, afraid of being vilified.

"He also said that at the time he became aware of the matter, no one really believed there would ever be a trial. When it did come about, he believed both accused would be acquitted. When Megrahi was convicted, he told himself he'd be cleared at appeal."

The source added: "When that also failed, he explained he felt he had to come forward.

"He has confirmed that parts of the case were fabricated and that evidence was planted. At first he requested anonymity, but has backed down and will be identified if and when the case returns to the appeal court."

The evidence that linked the bombing of Pan Am 103 to Megrahi was a tiny fragment of circuit board found in a wooded area many miles from Lockerbie.

The fragment was later identified by the FBI's Thomas Thurman as being part of a sophisticated timer device used to detonate explosives.

Thurman has been revealed as a fraud who had given false evidence in American murder trials. He had little in the way of scientific qualifications.

In 2003, a retired CIA officer gave a statement to Megrahi's lawyers in which he alleged evidence had been planted.

It has long been rumoured the fragment was planted to implicate Libya for political reasons.

Following the Lockerbie Bomb trial, legal observers, including senior United Nations officials, expressed doubts about the verdict.

People may be wakening up to the plots of the bad guys?

On 16 October 2008, George Shanks wrote in The Scotsman about UK prime minister Gordon Brown's actions on banks (Brown and Scotland's bail-out blues ):

"Saying Mr Brown has had a good credit crisis is akin to saying Earl Haig had a good First World War."

A M T Maxwell-Irving in The Scotsman (Brown and Scotland's bail-out blues ) wrote Gordon Brown:

"The opportunity to take over Scotland's two banks, and thus spike the Scottish National Party's guns, whilst at the same time raising his own status as the self-professed saviour of the world's economy, was too good to miss...

"He talked down the value of HBOS shares while arranging for the smaller Lloyds TSB bank (in England) to take over Scotland's national bank.

"Then, and only then, did he make short-selling of shares illegal."

Hector Sants is the head of the Financial Services Authority (FSA).

On 15 October 2008, he indicated that Bank of Scotland (HBOS) could survive as an independent bank.

The Scotsman asked six key questions about Gordon Brown's £37 billion banking bail-out.

"Last night, the Bank of England and the Treasury were yet to respond to The Scotsman's challenge.

The questions were:

1. Why were the recapitalisation proposals for Lloyds TSB and HBOS not considered and presented separately?

2. Why was there a presumption in favour of a Lloyds TSB takeover – particularly when shareholders of both banks have not yet had an opportunity to vote on it?

3. Why should the government be supporting a solution that stands to trigger many more job losses than those already necessary?

4. Why have assurances not been sought on the retention of key functions in Scotland?

5. What protection will there be for bank customers and consumers as a result of loss of competition across the UK, and particularly in Scotland?

6. Has the government considered alternative options for HBOS? Why could the group not be supported like RBS and given the opportunity to trade out of its current difficulties over the next three years?

What happened to the Scottish regiments?

Famous names such as the Cameronians, the Argylls and the Black Watch have gone.

Gordon Brown's labour government does not want there to be a Scottish identity.

Scottish and Newcastle

Some suspect there is a conspiracy to undermine the Scottish economy and prevent Scotland from becoming independent.

1. Scotland has enormous oil wealth and it pays its own way.

The London government and the London media have repeatedly lied about this.

2. In 2003, the Herald newspaper, based in Scotland, was taken over by the American company Gannett (Newsquest).

Since then the editorial staff has been cut from 186 to 113.

Today's Herald is full of anti-Scottish and pro-American propaganda.

3. In 2001, Scottish Provident was taken over by the English Abbey National.

Scottish Colony

One of the biggest setbacks for the Scottish economy came just before Scotland lost its independence in 1707.

Scotland's Darien Scheme involved the setting up of a Scottish colony on the Isthmus of Panama in the hope of trading with both the East and the West. (the same principle later led to the building of the Panama Canal.)

The English Government did everything it could to make the scheme fail.

English investors withdrew their money.

English ships were forbidden to help the colonists.
