Now we read the following headline: Former spy in line for top Scottish Tory job
According to the Daily Telegraph, former top MI6 spy Andrew Fulton is in line to become chairman of the Scottish Conservative Party.
This move has been 'agreed by David Cameron and Annabel Goldie, the Scottish leader'.
In 2007, Fulton became an adviser to the Armor Group, which provides security services to national governments and large corporations. Its non-executive chairman is the Conservative Party's Sir Malcolm Rifkind.
Fulton spent most of his career with MI6, serving in Saigon, Rome, East Berlin, New York and Washington.
Fulton was a member of the Lockerbie Trial Briefing Unit which told the media what to think about the trial of the two Libyans accused of the Lockerbie bombing. He stepped down from the unit after being unmasked as a spy.
"She was part of a Glasgow University 60s clique which included Smith... and Menzies Campbell" (former leader of the UK Liberal Democrat Party) - Sunday Times, August 15, 1999.
The Independent on Sunday (UK), on 3 September 2006, had an article about former MI6 spy Richard Tomlinson.
The article revealed that, according to Tomlinson, the former leader of the UK Liberal Democrat party Paddy Ashdown was an officer in MI6.
According to former spy David Shayler, Tony Blair may have worked for MI5. - aangirfan: Shayler: 'Blair was an MI5 agent'.
Tim Luckhurst wrote in the June 15, 2003, Sunday Times: Dorril says that politicians including Dewar, John Smith, Gordon Brown, George Foulkes, George Robertson and Robin Cook were precisely the types the intelligence services longed to see take control of the Labour party and he believes that contemporaries and acquaintances of these leading Scottish Labour figures took active roles in organisations sponsored and endorsed by MI6 and the CIA.
"Elizabeth Smith (John Smith's widow) was approached. So was Margaret 'Meta' Ramsay, president of the Scottish National Union of Students between 1959 and 1961, who worked at the Fund for International Student Co-operation (FISC) where the organiser was George Foulkes.
"In 1969 the Radical Student Alliance published a pamphlet alleging that FISC was a CIA front," says Dorril. "That was denied, but in 1969 Ramsay joined MI6. She was a specialist in the Scandinavian states."
Was former Labour Party leader John Smith linked to the security services?
Some people in the intelligence community claim that a firm called Hakluyt was started by MI6 officers to carry out "deniable" operations.
Maurice Chittenden and Nicholas Rufford, in The Sunday Times, 19 June 2001, wrote about Hakluyt and its links to the spy services.
Baroness Smith, the widow of John Smith, the late Labour leader, was a director of Hakluyt. (http://184.108.40.206/search?q=cache:HlNtxnxBUy4J:www.rense.com/general11/env.htm+john-smith+mi6&hl=en)
Robin Ramsay has spoken about spooks and politicians. (Http://www.labour-reform.org.uk/main_pages/n_l_history.htm )
This is an extract from a speech to the Labour Reform/Chartist Conference July 2002 by Robin Ramsay:
When John Smith became leader of the Labour Party he was a member of the steering committee of the Bilderberg Group: the steering committee, the inner core. He got Gordon Brown invited to the 1991 meeting, incidentally...
Who was John Smith? Genial, whiskey-drinking Scots lawyer from the traditional Labour right. But also life-long chums with a senior MI6 officer, now Baroness Ramsay. Lady Smith, his widow, is now on the board of an MI6 front company.
He took on an advisor - Ed Balls, a Financial Times leader writer - an ideologist for globalisation, in effect - who learned some of his economics at Harvard . Like other Labour personnel, including Yvette Cooper MP, whom Balls later married, and David Miliband, head of Blair's policy unit, both now junior ministers, Balls had spent a year in America as a Kennedy Scholar.
Virtually all of the new Labour people have some connection to America and American money...
Tony Blair took the US government's free tour of the States in 1986 andtold his hosts that while officially a member of CND he supported the nuclear deterrent. He had joined the Labour Friends of Israel in 1983 when he got elected. While Shadow Home Secretary in 1994 Tony Blair took an Israeli government freebie holiday in Israel. On his return the number two at the Israeli embassy in London introduced him to Michael Levy - now Lord Levy - one of the top fund-raisers for Jewish charities.
At Cryptome, Gordon Logan wrote (Http://cryptome.org/mi6-bush.htm):
I was disturbed to read some weeks ago that the late John Smith’s widow had been given a job with Hakluyt. A smoking gun if ever there was one. Hakluyt is an MI6 company, and it is difficult not to conclude that Mrs Smith was placed there for purposes of surveillance. There was speculation after John’s death that he had been poisoned. The Americans had been cultivating Blair, Mandelson and Brown since the eighties, and Blair was too promising, and manipulable, for them to pass up. Meta Ramsey must have ‘failed’ John.
Was Peter Mandelson used by the security services to spy on the Communist Party?
According to an article in Propagandamatrix, (http://www.propagandamatrix.com/blair_protection.html)
"Peter Mandelson began political life as a member of the Communist Party, soon "seeing the light" and instead getting involved with the CIA/MI6-financed Socialist International youth wing and the Labour Party, through which he rose in parallel with his experience working at London Weekend Television with other A-list regulars like John Birt and Michael Maclay, now public mouthpiece of Hakluyt, the private sector spook outfit run by a bunch of "ex" MI6 types including the widow of ex-Labour leader John Smith.
"This sort of background and connections makes Mandelson very useful in the sort of corridors-and-alleyways diplomacy and networking that is the real substance of international relations and intelligence gathering. [....] If Mandelson is indeed the suspect, then the damage this could cause may fatally wound Blair."
