Do young people need much more attention from sympathetic adults?
Frankie Vaughan CBE ( 1928-1999) was a British pop singer, born Frank Abelson to a Jewish family in Liverpool. Vaughan got on very well with boys and was deeply involved with the National Association of Boys' Clubs.
When there were big gang fights by kids in Easterhouse in Glasgow, during the 1960's, Vaughan came up to Glasgow and helped improve the situation.
He persuaded the youths to hand over their weapons. (Frankie Vaughan)
Do we need more people like Frankie Vaughan and Robert Baden-Powell to help run clubs for kids? (Baden-Powell and boy scouts)
While on a visit to Charterhouse, his old public school, Robert Baden-Powell stayed with an old friend, A. H. Tod, a bachelor teacher and housemaster. Tod had taken large numbers of nude photographs of his pupils as part of a photographic record of public school life. (Robert Baden-Powell's sexual orientation - Wikipedia, the free ...)
Many of the people who in the past had a good influence on young people, by running scouts, football clubs, girl guides, choirs, youth clubs and the like, could probably be described as being pedophile; in other words many of these youth leaders probably found young people capable of being sexually attractive. "The idea that classical paedophilia is associated with exploitative behaviour, and even with violence or other harm to children, has no foundation in forensic and psychological research." (See New Statesman, 21st August 1992, Edward Barrie - summarizing work by M. C. Baurmann for Germany’s Justice Department; and Journal of Sex Research 34, 3, 237-255, 1997, ‘A meta-analytical review of findings from national samples on psychological correlates of child sexual abuse’, Bruce Rind [Department of Psychology, Temple University] and Philip Tromovitch [Graduate School of Education, University of Pennsylvania].) Not all societies consider pedophiles to be abnormal.
"Classically considered perfectly normal in ancient Greece, India and south-east Asia and in modern Papua New Guinea, paedophiles have found themselves targeted in the West not just as ‘dirty old men’ who should face jail for entirely non-violent offences, but as depraved and ‘obsessive’ sex maniacs who stop at nothing, even in their seventies, to forcibly violate and murder children, and thus deserve castration at best." - Chris Brand (I wish a distinction were more often made in the media between ...)
